Way-finding Signs
Noticed anything different in downtown lately? You may see some turquoise signs spread around Main Street. Walk among historical sites like St. Genevieve’s Catholic Church, the Amador Hotel, and Pioneer Women’s Park! Every historical downtown location now has a way-finding sign that educates visitors on its history.
The revitalization of downtown would not be complete without these sites, some of which are still standing today! The opening up of main street to traffic has allowed visitors to experience downtown the way it once was. With renovations happening in the Amador hotel, the history of these buildings are coming back to life.
For more information on the sites take a look at DLCP’s walking tour on the Heart of Las Cruces app! The walking tour is a mile loop around downtown with seven locations. This user friendly walking tour of the downtown areas is complete with historic photographs of the sites and links to videos with more information.
