Hello all! My name is Mark Miller. I am from Clovis, New Mexico. For anyone not familiar with Eastern New Mexico the scenery in that area of the state includes tumbleweeds, and a flat landscape of mostly dirt. Don’t get me wrong that flat landscape lends itself to great views of sunsets, so the area is not without its own brand of beauty. Having said that, my first exposure to the mountains of Ruidoso left me in awe. And when I saw the view of the Organ Mountains from Las Cruces I fell in love. Of course I still love the views, especially from all of the great hiking spots in the area; however, the amazing people I have met, the great food (especially from food trucks!), the culture, the hiking, and so much more have given me a deep appreciation for this city.
Like many, I came to Las Cruces for New Mexico State University. Currently I am a graduate student in the Sociology Department working on my Master’s thesis. My ultimate goal is to work in organizations that work towards bettering our society. For this reason, I am happy to say I am the Office Administrator here at the Downtown Las Cruces Partnership. I am honored to be able to work with such a great organization, and I look forward to getting to know the people of Downtown Las Cruces.
So, what does this mean for you, our loyal readers? It means the DLCP blog will be making a comeback! Look for upcoming blogposts concerning everything Downtown. I look forward to telling you about all the great things happening here at DLCP and in Downtown Las Cruces, as well as giving you an opportunity to get to know the people of downtown along with me. I hope you are as excited as I am. Talk to you soon!
