Want to operate a downtown trolley service? DLCP has all the specs!

BULLETIN REPORT

Downtown Las Cruces Partnership (DLCP) Executive Director Arianna Parsons is looking for an entrepreneur to start up a trolley tour company in downtown Las Cruces.

She has all the specs for anyone interested, and estimates the initial investment would be $35,000 to $50,000. That would pay for a renovated historic trolley, maintenance, insurance, fuel and drivers.

Uses would include a variety of downtsb_trolley_home_photoown events, including the Art Ramble, cultural and historic tours, the Las Cruces Farmers and Crafts Market, weekend and evening attractions, school outings and special events.

Parsons said the trolley could be operated for less than $1,400 a month, and could break even if it operates for three hours a day, eight days a month for a total of 72 20-minute trips each month. Twenty-eight riders paying $1 each would generate a monthly income of more than $2,000, “more than covering the cost of operations,” she said.
