With the end of the school year quickly approaching, downtown Las Cruces is a great place to spend time with the family. Whether you’re planning a full day downtown or just looking for a way to keep the kids busy for an afternoon, there are plenty of kid-friendly spots to explore.
Start at Plaza de Las Cruces, where kids can cool off in the splash fountains and run through the open space while parents relax nearby. From there, stop into the Branigan Cultural Center area and visit the Nature and Science Museum. This museum offers hands-on exhibits and activities that make learning fun during the summer break.
Downtown also has several creative spaces for kids. Color Me Mine gives families the chance to paint pottery together. Wet Paint Studios offer art supplies and creative inspiration for young artists. Public murals and colorful storefronts throughout downtown make walking around feel a little more interactive.
If you need a break from the heat, Rad Retrocade is a fun stop with classic arcade games for all ages. Families can also grab lunch, a sweet treat, or a cold drink from one of downtown’s local restaurants and cafés along the way.
The Farmers and Crafts market on Saturday mornings is also a big hit with the kiddos! Make sure to get there early to beat the sweltering summer sun!
Between art, history, games, museums, and outdoor spaces, downtown Las Cruces has plenty of ways to make summer a little more fun for kids and families alike!
