It’s National Bingo Day and what better way to celebrate than to play a round of “Downtown Bingo”? Join us as we follow the adventures of Jennifer Garcia Kozlowski, Executive Director of the Downtown Las Cruces Partnership. Get your bingo cards ready and see if you and Jennifer went to the same places!
On the Quest for Something Tasty
Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. To fuel up for her day of bingo, Jennifer sets off for something tasty downtown. There are more options than one could possibly imagine! A Bite of Belgium offers the perfect meal that tastes magnificent no matter the hour – their gouda omelet and liege waffles. To truly get the most out of your bingo card, get one of their creams or mousses – your downtown bingo experience will be truly transformed.
Searching for Something that Shows Pride
Downtown Las Cruces, along with many downtown businesses and organizations, stands proudly with the LGBTQ+ community. A new addition to downtown, the Bean on Mesquite has stickers, mugs, and even soap to help you show pride this summer! To make your bingo experience extra special, go to Dwell Yoga on Sundays and get 10% off your purchase at the Bean afterward!
Looking Out for Something Local
Here in the downtown area, we love all things local! Although it was difficult to settle on just one place to satisfy her bingo card requirements, Sage Spices’ Enchanted Land Honey won the prize! Made by bees whose beehives are across Southern New Mexico, this wildflower honey is perfect on toast, yogurt, or by the spoonful! If you get some local honey, you’re going to want some tea to go with it, so be sure to check out their tea selection while you’re at it!
Finding Something Handmade
Next door to Sage Spices is Mew + Co’s Children Boutique. Although you’ll feel like you’ve been transported to Paris, France when you walk in, this space still qualifies for our downtown bingo game! From the felt food items to carefully crafted finger puppets, each item has been uniquely handmade to create something special. A brown bear, blue rabbit, and white duck by Rosie Made bring another checkbox to Jennifer’s bingo card. She is one step closer to winning the game!
On the Hunt for a Building Older than 50 Years Old
Downtown Las Cruces is full of rich history, historic buildings, and culture. The Rio Grande Theatre and its iconic sign have been a part of downtown since 1926. The Rio Grande’s age nearly doubles the downtown bingo card’s requirement of a building older than 50 years old.
Hoping to Taste a Colorful Drink
Summer has definitely arrived in Las Cruces and hasn’t been shy about the heat! To stay cool for the downtown games, Jennifer gets a colorful drink at the Amador Patio Bar and Grill. Their bright pink Barbie Margarita is perfect for the occasion, complete with a yellow lemon. This margarita made by Tiffany will help you win downtown bingo and get excited about the new Barbie movie in July!
In the Pursuit of Something to Smell
Jennifer rounded out her bingo card adventure not too far from the Downtown Las Cruces Partnership’s office at Just Peachy Double Wide Designs. More than just a jewelry store, Just Peachy Double Wide Designs sells candles, lotions, leather goods, and apparel. Their Tyler Candles, Tyler Room Freshener, and Tyler Hand Lotion from the High Maintenance collection give Jennifer the final square that she needs to win BINGO!
