New Mexico MainStreet is a program of the state’s Economic Development Department and a coordinating program of Main Street America™
Since 1985, New Mexico MainStreet has been a powerful force for the revitalization of communities across the state. Combining historic preservation with asset-based economic development, New Mexico MainStreet works with local affiliates and partners to re-build resilient Main Streets as the foundation for healthy communities.
The New Mexico MainStreet program promotes a community-driven process that brings stakeholders from all sectors together, inviting them to be proactive participants in the revitalization process. Communities must work together to identify key strategies, known as Transformation Strategies, that provide a clear sense of priorities and direction for revitalization efforts. These strategies align with the four key areas Main Streets have been using as a guiding framework for more than 35 years: Organization, Promotion, Design, and Economic Vitality. New Mexico MainStreet and participating local affiliates use The Main Street Four-Point Approach® as the basis for developing transformative economic development

The City of Las Cruces has a well-established public-private partnership with DLCP. The partnership combines our respective strengths to support the growth of a safe, vibrant, diverse, and walkable downtown community. We seek to invigorate residential and business redevelopment through good planning and responsible, targeted investments.
